Why I Became A Financial Advisor

While financial advising wasn’t the first step in my career, it has been a passion of mine from my young adulthood. This is all thanks to my father, who showed me the importance of providing for your family and putting others’ needs before your own. He helped me get started with investments at the age of 18 and modeled the discipline and persistence necessary to be a successful investor in the long term.

My father passed in February 2019 from Alzheimer's. Through my experience of caring for him, I realized that I wanted to carry on his legacy and help others understand the financial and emotional importance of having a well-rounded and flexible financial plan that accounts for all of life’s twists and turns.

Starting Out

I started my career years after graduating from Florida Atlantic University with a degree in computer engineering. I spent almost two decades working for IBM and then Qualcomm as a circuit engineer and software engineer. In 2016, I took a giant leap of faith, changed career paths, and started Family Legacy Financial Solutions with my nephew, Joshua Stubbolo.

My Role Today

Today, I am the senior managing partner, investment advisor representative, and financial advisor for my firm. I believe the financial industry is rife with conflicts of interest that often lead clients down the wrong path. My goal is to offer something different to my clients in the form of a long-term relationship where they know I am looking out for them no matter what life throws their way.

My father’s health situation, along with his caring and giving personality, inspires me to help others who can’t help themselves. I know that many people don’t have the desire, time, or knowledge to optimize their financial life, and my goal is to help people navigate their financial decisions with confidence.

Challenges And Victories

Every job has its ups and downs, and financial advising is no different. My role is to offer advice and recommendations based on my education and experience, but the final decisions are ultimately up to each client. It can be difficult to see my clients, for whom I care deeply, make decisions that aren’t ideal for the long term. That being said, there’s nothing more fulfilling than seeing my clients fulfill their dreams and get excited about their future. This, along with providing for my family, is what drives me to work hard in my profession and grow and learn more each day.
